The huge variety of available vape liquids in varying nicotine strengths makes finding the one best suited to you something of a minefield. Flavour may be paramount to vaping enjoyment, but users have other pressing questions about their habit. What nicotine strength and flavour should I choose? Is e-cigarette liquid harmful? Does vaping nicotine make you high? – the answer to the latter is a decisive no! This summary will help you make an informed decision when choosing vape liquid and deciding on nicotine strength.
NICOTINE IN E-LIQUID
There are distinct differences between smoking and vaping. The act of smoking involves combustion, which results in the formation of foul-smelling smoke and ash, and the toxins in cigarette smoke can lead to serious health conditions including heart disease, cancer and lung disease. But smoking isn’t only harmful to smokers – second-hand smoke from combustibles such as cigarettes, pipes, cigars and hookahs presents serious health risks to those who breathe in what you exhale.
There are more than 7 000 chemicals in tobacco smoke, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States. Hundreds of these chemicals are toxic and many of them can cause cancer. Shockingly these chemicals include the likes of benzene, also found in petrol; ammonia, a common ingredient in household detergents and hydrogen cyanide, which is used in chemical weapons!
During vaping, e-liquid – which more likely than not contains nicotine – is inhaled as vapour but because no combustion takes place, vapers are exposed to fewer toxins, at lower levels than smokers, and because no combustion takes place no tar or carbon monoxide is produced.
The e-liquid contained in closed system Vuse Go epods contains five ingredients carefully sourced by our team of scientists: food-grade aromatic substances, propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), distilled water and nicotine (unless you’re using a zero-nicotine product).
At Vuse, safety and quality matters, which is why our team of scientific, engineering and technical specialists scrutinises every ingredient that goes into both our devices and our e-liquids.
· Only the finest quality ingredients are used
· Each ingredient used is carefully assessed
· Every batch of e-liquid is tested, traceable and tamperproof
· Strict manufacturing quality controls and standards are enforced.
WHICH NICOTINE STRENGTH IS BEST FOR YOU?
Nicotine occurs naturally in the leaves of the tobacco plant, and it is found in very small quantities in vegetables and fruit such as potatoes, aubergines and tomatoes. On the medical front nicotine has been used for decades in licenced medicinal products that are in many cases available without the need for a doctor’s prescription.
Despite this, many vapers are keen to know the difference between the amount of nicotine in cigarettes compared to vapes. It’s a complex question to answer because it depends on a number of factors such as the number of cigarettes you used to smoke, and the strength of those cigarettes. For smokers who have made the move to vaping, the general rule for a smooth and satisfying vaping experience is to start off with a vape liquid that has a similar nicotine strength to the cigarettes you once smoked.
The strength of e-cig liquid is determined by its nicotine content and is stipulated on your Vuse epod as a percentage: 0%, 1.6%, 3% and 5% so you can either choose a nicotine level that is familiar to you or select one of the lower (or zero) nicotine percentages if you want to reduce the amount of nicotine in your e-cigarette. The good news is that nicotine strength has no effect on the flavour and enjoyment of your vaping experience.

Which brings us to the last question that needs to be answered: “is e-cigarette liquid harmful?” Studies have found that e-liquids containing nicotine are far less addictive than smoking, and as addictive, or less addictive, than nicotine gum. According to a report published by the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment concluded that smokers who quit cigarettes and switch to vaping can expect to reduce their risks of smoking-related disease.
While no nicotine product can be considered completely safe, each Vuse epod flavour has been subjected to a rigorous testing regime and any ingredients that fail to pass our toxicological safety assessment are rejected. This means that whenever you see the Vuse quality seal you can be assured that the vapour you’re about to inhale has been subjected to strict controls. The only thing left is for you to try it for yourself.
