What is TPD?
On 20th May 2016 new regulations, known as the Tobacco and Related Products regulations, came into force affecting the sale and promotion of e-cigarettes. By 20th May 2017, these regulations will have been fully implemented. These regulations form part of the Tobacco Products Directive, known as TPD, and cover everything from the product itself to the advertising of e-cigarettes.
These regulations have been introduced in order to ensure the safety and quality of e-cigarettes, providing vapers with greater certainty regarding the products they buy. We have been working for some time to ensure we meet all aspects of these regulations. At Vuse, over 250 scientists and 1000s of hours of testing ensure that our products meet the high-quality standards set by this new law.
What does this mean for Vuse?
These regulations bring about many changes to the e-cigarette category such as a maximum size of refill bottles and indeed the size of the tanks themselves. The appearance of packaging will also change, with health warnings and ingredients lists also being required. We have been working hard to ensure all Vuse products meet the required standards. Every product we have launched over the last few years meets the TPD requirements. You will probably already have seen our new packaging with the added health warning that we launched last year.
The biggest change for Vuse is relating to our eStick. TPD means that the maximum amount of nicotine in eliquid must not exceed 20mg/ml or 2%.
