OUR JOURNEY TO CO2 NEUTRALITY
Since May 2021, we have been able to proudly say that “Vuse is the first global carbon-neutral vape brand*”, setting the ESG standard in the vaping category.
Vuse has been independently certified as carbon-neutral by Vertis, having completed a decarbonisation plan that included:
Improving our factories’ energy efficiencies by upgrading to lower-impact equipment
Increasing renewable-energy usage through the purchasing of sustainable energy and on-site generation
Continuing our carbon-offsetting efforts through reforestation projects in South America
* *Based on ePod, ePen, eTank mini, Alto devices and consumables internal sales forecast (calculated March 2021) for 12 months starting from April 2021. BAT was able to reduce its carbon emissions by 44.4%; the remaining 55.6% are offset by third parties. Carbon neutrality was calculated based on ISO 14044:2006 for the entire product life cycle. Please note that carbon neutrality does not exclude any adverse impact of the products on the environment. Find out more at vuse.com/ch.
REFORESTATION IN SOUTH AMERICA
We support the ‘Guanaré’ reforestation project – a forest plantation on degraded grasslands subject to extensive grazing in South America – to ensure ongoing carbon offsetting. We also support a project in Uruguay that plants trees over an area of 21,298 hectares eroded by intensive cattle grazing. In addition to offsetting CO2, the project also leads to an improvement in soil quality and biodiversity – and it creates local jobs.
